New audiobook award

The Galaxy National Book Awards has just been announced and includes for the first time a category for downloadable audiobooks. This is a new approach to promote audiobooks.
The award is for an unabridged audiobook released for the first time. It must be: fiction, children’s, a non-fiction work or poetry by a UK author of longer than 1 hour. Judging will be based upon the quality of the content, the reading and the production and, not, simply an audio version of a bestseller.
Unabridged audiobooks can be particularly valued by blind and partially sighted people, especially if they cannot read print or braille.
The awards will be televised on More4 from 7.30pm on Saturday 13th November.
