ClearVision celebrates with new collection

Thu, 13 Oct 2011

This post is from the fortnightly Share the Vision bulletin which covers relevant news and developments in library services for blind and partially sighted people.

"I was delighted to read that ClearVision is celebrating its 25th Anniversary by launching a new addition to its collections of dual format books for children. The “Touchlines” collection of over 200 new books on sports is designed to tie in with the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and enhance the involvement of blind children. “Mandeville’s Book of Sports” is specially designed to cover the 9 Paralympic sports open to totally blind athletes."

Touchlines collection

The Touchlines collection includes new children's books for touch readers at all levels, from pre-school novelty board books to challenging stories and biographies for newly-fluent readers.

ClearVision is also adding to the library twenty copies of a new specially designed book about the nine paralympic sports open to totally blind athletes. Mandeville's Book of Sports includes embossed tactile versions of the official Paralympic pictograms, as well as information in braille on the featured sports. This book has been designed in collaboration with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
