ebooks

More and more books are now available as ebooks that can be read on computers or hand held devices. This provide opportunities for people with sight loss to extend their reading choices.

One of the great advantages of ebooks is the option to adjust the print size on your screen. Our Reading Technology section gives more details of the technical aspects of downloading ebooks.

Public libraries are introducing ebook loan services. The book you download is time limited, as with standard borrowing, but you are usually given the option to extend the loan period, renew or borrow again. All systems are different, so you need to check with your local library service. If they have an ebooks service they are likely to have downloadable audio books too and both services will be available through the library website.
